The following are stag/stagette party cakes, so there's a link instead of a picture. Please be warned there is sugar-crafted nudity, so adults only please.

Okay, a new batch of cakes!

First, a wedding cake from this past weekend. 3 tiers covered in fondant & decorated with shimmery pink ribbon and fondant calla lilies, then dusted with edible shimmery lustre dust.

Next, the PHSS Grad 2006 cake. Their theme was an enchanted forest, so I made pine cones, mushrooms and acorns to decorate it, and turned the top into a lily pond.

Sunday, April 16

Well, my wee monkeys decided to find out what happens when you dump Mum's coffee into the camera dock...turns out, it's an effective way to keep her from posting more cake pics! LOL So I guess it will be a while before I get new pictures on here, but thanks for the orders everyone! :)

Monday, April 3

First off, a hello to my Cheeky Monkey Junkie...Hi Tracey! :D

This cake was for the local preschool teacher's birthday. I wanted to make it bright and fun so that all of the kids would enjoy it too :)
I designed it to match the cake board, with bright daisies and lucky ladybugs.
It was also my first topsy turvy cake (the top was bigger than the base of each layer).

Saturday, March 25

A donation for a Jazz Festival fundraiser. The image on top is the event's logo, a seal on a rock playing a sax. The seal & notes were all made from chocolate.

Tinkerbell :) One of two orders yesterday, but unfortunately the picture of the first cake was a blur. I think I was yawning too much to hold the camera steady, I was up at 3am for work that morning, lol!
Anyhow, here's Tink! When I cut off the pieces of the cake to shape it, it didn't leave enough to feed 20, so I made the leftover bits into mini cakes :)

Monday, March 20

Mickey and Minnie Mouse for a set of boy/girl twins :)

Friday, March 17

Three new cakes...five cakes ordered this weekend, yikes!
Another 3D excavator, a yellow Kobelco this time :)

A couple new ones this weekend...

First, a cake for my piping band's potluck tomorrow. I hope they get a chuckle out of it, like I did :D

And these are little cappucino cups...although the cake inside is actually carrot, not coffee-flavoured. They are a thank-you for a friend, and I'm going to pop a little Starbucks card between the cups :) Thanks again, Judy!

Tuesday, March 7

Firebeaver & truck

For a local firefighter's birthday. His wife ordered carrot cake because he's a carrot-top, lol! The truck & beaver are both buttercream transfers.

Sunday, March 5

Doll cake

I finished this one this morning, my 2nd doll cake, but the first that I have a picture of. Made with the little girl's Barbie on the middle and covered in a fondant dress with stars and tiny flower trimmings also made of fondant.
I just bought this darling cake stand last weekend, it's so pretty and girly with the dangling glass beads :)

New cakes!

Well, it's been a busy 2 weeks, but every time I tried to upload pictures, ImageShack was down. Today it's up, so here I go :)

A heart with fondant teddy bears

A mosaic cake! My first attempt at this, and I loved the results. It took a lot longer than I expected though :) I don't think the pictures do it justice, so hopefully I'll get better pictures the next time I try this.

Hummingbirds and roses...

My second cake order for this weekend! I can't believe it's only 10:30pm on Friday night and my cakes are done for the weekend, yay! I used a pretty pastel pink fondant for this cake, with hummingbird decorations and red buttercream roses.

front

Well, I finished the first of this weekend's order, a fairy :) This is for a little girl turning two.

Sunday, January 22

Heffalump: the new stork!
Well, here's the heffalump cake! I was very happy with the way it turned out, I think it's awfully cute :) It has a little hand-crafted fondant baby girl under a blanket on top.

Saturday, January 21

Well, I just finished the cake I am donating to Robbie Burns Night tonight! I used my favorite Burns poem "My luve is like a red, red rose". I am a new member of the pipe band, and they are performing tonight so this is my little donation to the event. I can't participate yet as it takes a while to earn your pipes, but surely next year I'll be there. I'm hoping for pipes by May Day but that may be a stretch, LOL.
Anyways, here it is. The borders are ribbon, and the top border of the bottom cake is my attempt at thistle... Thepicture on the right makes it look really lopsided, but I must have just been holding the camera a bit off, because it didn't really look lopsided!

Tonight I have to make a 3D heffalump cake for a baby shower tomorrow, I can't wait! So tune in tomorrow for more pictures :)

Sunday, January 15

Some cakes I made at christmas :)

A carol book with a hand-crafted white chocolate angel.

I donated 3 cakes to a fundraiser for the local preschool! This was the first, a "merry christmoose" cake!
top

And a penguin...

And the 3rd was a gift box cake with a little santa & rudolph :)

I also made another penguin cake...

And another "merry christmoose" cake. The hand-made chocolate moose were, clockwise from bottom left, sledding with earmuffs, a Santa, had a strand of lights tangled in the antlers, and an angel :)

Some previous cakes...

3D Pooh Bear

3D turtle, the flowers were candles :)

My oldest nephew's 2nd birthday cake, Blue's Clues!

A marbled pink & purple butterfly for a little girl's 4th birthday.

This was my twin daughters' 2nd birthday cake! A pile of bananas topped by 2 little "cheeky monkeys" with banana peels on their head :)

A goodbye cake for a family moving to Australia! A 3D koala cake and a round cake with animals drawn on.

This was for my sister's friend, who likes bees and horses :)

Another new cake

Just finished this one for tomorrow, a baby shower cake! I love baby cakes, and I've been waiting for an excuse to try out the toy box idea. Took me forever to get a nice olive green for the lettering, but worth it. I love the green and dusky blue together. I used animal cookie cutters to make little fondant elephants & hippos for around the sides, and teddy bears for the top. The toy box has a little bear & elephant in it, and a blanket & pillow hanging out :)

Saturday, January 14

2 new cakes today...

A 3D excavator and a 3D cowboy hat! These were my first 2 cakes using homemade marshmallow fondant and that's definitely what I'll be mostly using from now on. It was very easy, and tastes better than the Wilton fondant that I've been buying until now. The only down side to the homemade fondant is that it doesn't dry as well as the Wilton :( I left the sides of the hat brim left curled up overnight to dry, but they didn't. So I ended up having to make more flowers to hold up the brim.

The hat was 3 8"round cakes, each torted to make 6 layers total, with alternating chocolate and raspberry filling, yum!

The excavator was baked in an 8X12 pan and cut up to make the parts. Everything is cake except the arm (pvc pipng covered in fondant) and the bucket (all fondant). I had to drove almost an hour to drop this one off, through very curvy roads, and my stomach was doing flip-flops the whole way there. Boy, was I relieved to open the box and find the cake still intact! I was so sure that the arm was going to fall off during one of those curves!

And a few older pictures...
Ducky cake for my youngest sister's 15th birthday!

And a Finding Nemo cake! Nemo was a personal-sized cake for the birthday boy :) It was made from a jumbo cupcake.

Cheeky Monkey Cakes is Blogging!

Well, this is very exciting! I've been making homemade cakes since May 2005, but never had a site to display them. It will be terrific to be able to share my cheeky creations with my family, friends and customers!
On that note, I should find some recent pictures...

This is a birthday cake I made in December, for my friend who is a hippo lover. I've known her since Grade 4, believe it or not! (My friend, not the hippo)
front

side

I made this Tigger cake for my biggest little sister, who just turned 23.

And this was an order for a terrific returning customer :)
Her daughter wanted a Bratz cake, so I made an edible image using the picture provided and topped it off with hot pink "fur" trim and shiny red Bratz lips!

I've been thinking about selling cake & cupcake toppers after many people told me they wished I could ship my cakes. Well, mailing cake isn't possible for me, but mailing cake decorations is! Here is a sample I'm mailing to a friend as a test run. They are #1 decorations for B & B, a set of boy/girl twins, with flowers for her and turtles for him :)

And the cupcakes I made as part of my daughters' birthday cake will be an option for toppers too. They will look a bit different for sale, as I used buttercream to add details to these but will use fondant or royal icing if shipping them.
I don't think buttercream and up to 2 weeks in the mail are a good combination ;)

This was for my SIL's baby shower...and my new nephew's even cuter than the cake :)

This was a 2-tier cheesecake with handmade chocolate roses on the top, and a yummy pile of chocolate-dipped strawberries on the bottom. Man, it was hard to sell it instead of eating it!

One of my favorite cakes yet! This was a personal-size cake for a friend...The Frog Prince. I saw the frog prince created byLindy Smith (who is amazing!!!) at www.lindyscakes.co.uk and decided to try my own style of the fairytale favorite.

A kilt cake (with legs!!!) for a fellow from my bagpiping group...and by the way, I can play 4 songs now on the chanter! Um, without the gracenotes ;) And after a whole month. Okay, it's going to be a while before I earn my pipes, lol..
Anyhow, this cake is The Highland Hottie!

Another favorite cake, made for my Frog Prince friend's mama. This Red Hat Club cake reads "When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple"...have you read the poem? Google it, it's great! The little lady is wearing a purple dress, but it looks a bit blue in the picture.

This was a replica of the 2005 Relay For Life t-shirt, and was donated to the event's volunteer staff. This was one of my first Cheeky Monkey Cakes.
The Relay for Life is a wonderful event, which I will be participating in again this year, and hopefully donating even better cakes after a whole year's practice :) You can find info at http://www.cancer.ca/relayforlife/0,3707,153683985,00.html

This Celestial Cake was for a co-worker of my mum's, who is also the reason that my business began! She called me at home to order a cake and wouldn't take no for an answer...thank goodness! I love this cake, but it took a very looong time! My power went out while I was decorating it, so I had to finish hand-painting the black food colouring image by flashlight...oy!

This one I made in the summer for a birthday girl at a get-together for my twins group...a flower-shaped cake with 3D butterfly fondant decorations, so cute!

A 3D Dora the Explorer cake for an aDORAble little girl! Complete with Backpack and her buddies Swiper and Boots.
front

back...complete with Backpack ;)

Well, I think that's enough for today, folks! But I have 3 awesome cakes planned for this weekend (a 3D excavator, a 3D cowboy hat, and a baby shower cake) so check back this weekend for new pictures!
